Pix4D ecosystem update: new tools for managing, sharing, and processing geospatial data

ree

Our Swiss partner, Pix4D — a leading developer of specialized software in cartography and photogrammetry has introduced a new ecosystem update aimed at enhancing the efficiency of geospatial data workflows. The latest features provide centralized management of users and licenses, automated RTK configuration, unified exchange of structured data sets, and expanded collaboration within the PIX4Dcloud environment.

Organization Management

The new version of the Pix4D ecosystem introduces the Organization Management module, which provides centralized control over users, licenses, and project access. The system enables administrators to define roles, assign permissions, and manage collaboration between internal and external teams within a unified cloud environment.

This solution optimizes corporate collaboration, enhances data security, and ensures scalability when working with a large number of users or subcontractors.

Simplified RTK setup and profile sharing

The new version of PIX4Dcatch introduces automated RTK configuration. The system supports automatic NTRIP CRS selection and includes RTK profile export and import functions, eliminating the need for repeated setup when working across multiple devices.

A new option allows users to create password-protected profiles for secure sharing between devices and team members. An integrated correction services database automatically identifies the appropriate parameters, reducing setup time and improving connection stability.

Annotations and field collaboration

The latest versions of PIX4Dcatch and PIX4Dcloud introduce an annotation feature that allows users to add comments, technical notes, or field observations directly during data capture.

Annotations are stored as georeferenced records that accompany the dataset through subsequent processing stages. This ensures full synchronization between field and office teams, streamlines result validation, and reduces the need for repeated site visits.

Structured data for complex desktop projects

PIX4Dcatch now supports the OPF (Open Photogrammetry Format), which provides a standardized data structure that combines images, trajectory, camera orientation, and metadata into a single file.

The OPF format simplifies data transfer from PIX4Dcatch to PIX4Dmatic, eliminating the need for manual merging or re-alignment of datasets. This solution enhances data consistency and reduces the risk of errors during processing, particularly in large-scale infrastructure, construction, or geotechnical projects.

Integrated processing in PIX4Dmatic

PIX4Dmatic provides a unified workflow for processing data from multiple sources — aerial imagery, terrestrial, and mobile scans. The system supports combined reconstruction, generation of DSMs with polygon-aware surface correction, and simultaneous processing of both photogrammetric and LiDAR datasets.

The results can be exported in CSV or LandXML formats for further use in CAD environments. The level of model detail can be scaled depending on the purpose — from technical analysis to client presentations.

Collaboration in PIX4Dcloud

The latest PIX4Dcloud updates expand the tools for real-time collaboration with spatial data. The platform now supports direct upload of 3D models in the SLPK format generated in PIX4Dcatch, eliminating the need for additional processing.

PIX4Dcloud interface comparing measurements between point clouds and design files

Key features:

  • Comparison with design documentation. Supports overlaying IFC and DXF files onto point clouds, enabling measurements and deviation checks.

  • “As-built / as-designed” workflows. Compares field data with design models to validate project compliance.

  • Collaboration. Allows all project participants to add comments, measurements, and annotations directly via the web interface.

  • Interoperability. Compatible with ESRI ArcGIS systems for integrating results into municipal and infrastructure GIS platforms.

PIX4Dcloud provides a complete workflow for verification, control, and coordination of spatial data between field teams, engineers, and clients.

Scalable collaboration with Organization Management

The Organization Management feature provides centralized control of users, licenses, and projects within a single administrative environment. It is designed to facilitate structured collaboration between internal teams and external contractors.

Key advantages:

  • centralized access control and role assignment;

  • scalable collaboration without loss of manageability;

  • enhanced data exchange security;

  • unified project management in PIX4Dcloud.

Organization Management establishes a single infrastructure for working with geospatial data, where administration, access control, and permission management are carried out in real time.

Pix4D software is part of the product portfolio of Robotics Distribution — one of the TOP 10 IT distributors in Ukraine, which is part of the DroneUA group of companies.
